Nier automata steam release nier 2b ass4/13/2024 Originally posted by ekurisona:back in the 1900s we used to say 'sex sells'īack in the 1960s people wanted to be less like puritans, and even in the 1990s it was even ok among leftists to have attractive female characters that had a "sexually explicit persona" if the story and dialogue worked for a positive message, or a philosophical and or phychological reflection only after the proto-sjw crew, the lgbtetc ideologues, and the politically correct managed to won more influence over the left is that everything began to turn "moronic". let's leave games like DOA:Beach volleyball out of this discussion at all huh ) but I still don't think Nier goes as far as Bayonetta in sexualising the main character.and before someone goes there. I just say that there are definite design choices that had their basis rooted in fanservice just like Nier:Automata has. (to go down an axis from sexy to sexualised to oversexualised).Īnd I never meant to say Elden ring is oversexualised btw. it's also why I liked the romancing lines in a game like Cyberpunk (corny as they might be) and got turned off by them in the Witcher and straightup hated those in GoW. sure but I don't see them as being overtly sexual characters.not unless I want to see them that way.ĮDIT. For me that means I like the appeal of characters like Ranni, Malenia, 2B, Ivy, Bayonetta. I'm trying to say that both are beholden to the person who consumes the media involved. I didn't miss your point of appeal Vs sexuality however. Likewise as you stated yourself, Malenia's goddess form more repulses me than it attracts and for some reason she strikes me of way too arrogant reducing her sexuality (in my eyes) to below freezing. curiouser still, as you may have noticed, I think Ranni oozes sexuality but not in the way she looks but her mannerism. I've never seen 2B as overly sexualised UNTIL I saw the fanart and though most of that depict her without the skirt I much prefer her with one. To further stipulate on what you're saying here. There is absolutely nothing sexual about either of them IN GAME, which is where it is relevant to this conversation. Instead, its more intended to give the impression of power beyond the norm and possibly invoke some level of disgust due to the rot (although that has blatantly failed). Ranni and Malenia are appealing and, even in her Goddess of Rot form, there is no real attempt to draw the eye to her form in a truly sexual way. There is a difference between 'appealing' and 'sexulizing'. Originally posted by Dis Lexic:I think you might be missing my point. I have seen cases where things have been accused of sexulizing characters when that clearly wasnt the intent by any stretch of the imagination. That being said, you are right, there is an element of eye of the beholder here. Likewise, if we take Ranni and stick her in 2Bs outfit and position, she would be a lot more dangerous with 4 arms, but again, sexulized because of the situation. Incidentally, if you were to stick 2B into Ranni's place, outfits and all I would say that she is no longer being sexualized because, while she would still be completely droolworthy, the attention is no longer on her body or being drawn to it by the camera, her outfit and so on. If your talking Elden Ring, most of them are pretty much identical in male and female versions, although I'm not even going to argue about other games, but we arent TALKING about other games here.īayonetta, 2B, Ivy and so on are sexulized because the game draws attention to their boobs, ass and crotch, with some of them taking it a step further and having the character practically ooze sex appeal in their dialogue and general attitude.
